BUILDERS CLUB DRIVE NETS 2000 STUFFED ANIMALS

Middle-Level Campus Builders Club leaders recently coordinated with other district schools to collect 2,000 stuffed toys for use by local first responders.  The toys will be available to distribute to children experiencing trauma in emergencies.  Well done to all who led and contributed to a great community service project benefiting children!  Kris Dennison serves as our dedicated Middle-Level Campus Builders Club faculty advisor.

WEST VALLEY SCHOOLS SUPPORT COMMUNITY!

Thanks to the combined efforts of Ahtanum Valley, Summitview and Wide Elementary Schools collected 5,343 food items to help others in our community over the holiday season!  All food was distributed to community agencies that support others in our community.

The West Valley Kiwanis Club was pleased to continue our tradition of providing a pizza lunch for the classroom at each school that collected the most food.  It was our honor to serve Mrs. Tripp’s 2nd-grade class at Ahtanum, Mrs. Fink’s kindergarteners at Summitview, and Mrs. Little’s 2nd grade at Wide Hollow.

Special thanks to the Wide Hollow K Kids/Mr. Ferguson, Advisor, WV High School Key Club members for assisting with loading the food, Kiwanian Don Young for coordinating the project(s), and all school staff, children, and families for their generosity!

McAllister Museum Volunteer Speaks to Club

Special thanks to McAllister Museum volunteer Jim Adcock for sharing all about McAllister Museum of Aviation last night at our club meeting.

The McAllister Museum of Aviation is the leading preservationist and educator of aviation history in Central Washington.  The Museum was formed in 1999 after the passing of Charles McAllister, Yakima aviation pioneer and the owner of McAllister Flying Service.  The museum is staffed by volunteers and supported through fuel sales, donations, and rental of the museum for special events.

The Museum is housed in the original hangar of the McAllister Flying Service which provided all aviation services to aviators until the building of the Yakima airport.  The Museum includes 30+ displays featuring Yakima Aviation history, Yakima Aviators, and their military service.

Check out mcallistermuseum.org to learn more about the Museum.  They need volunteers! Call 509-457-4933 or email for information.
